Hello and welcome! Please understand that this website is not affiliated with Caron in any way, it is only a reference page for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by.

The main objective of this website is to chronicle the history of the Caron fragrances and showcase the bottles and advertising used throughout the years.

However, one of the other goals of this website is to show the present owners of the Caron perfume company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table), who knows, perhaps someone from the current Caron brand might see it.

Mimosa by Caron c1910

Mimosa: created in 1910, still sold in 1927.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It was classified as a floral fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: neroli, geranium, cassie
  • Middle notes: clove, jonquil, tuberose, rose
  • Base notes: guaiac wood, ambrette

Bottles:

The decanter style crystal bottle is fitted with a faceted crystal stopper. The center area of the bottle features a bronze plaque with a yellow guilloche enamel medallion. It acts as the label and reads "Le Mimosa" at the top and "Caron" at the bottom. The base of the bottle is cut and polished. The bottle was produced in France by the Pantin crystal factory and the design is attributed to Henri Hamm.

You will find hand inscribed numbers on the base of the bottle and on the end of the stopper plug, these should match. They were numbered at the factory so they could be matched up once the bottles were filled with perfume and ready to be sealed.

Two sizes of the Parfum bottle exist: the petite modele stood 4.75" tall (1.5 oz) and the deluxe modele stood 6.5" tall (3.5 oz). Only the Parfum flacons have the enameled medallion. The petite modele retailed for $5.50 and the deluxe modele retailed for $11.75 in 1923 (price rose to $15.50 in 1930).

Another version of this bottle has an embossed gold paper label instead of the guilloche medallion. This was used for the Eau de Toilette. It retailed for $8.50 in 1923. The Toilet Water bottle holds 8 ounces.

 Fate of the Fragrance:

Discontinued, date unknown.
